Hello,
I tried to preorder your game in order to be able and participate in the upcoming beta since I will sadly not be able to play the full release for a long time as I'll be doing my army service come May.

When proceeding to checkout it eventually led me to an error page stating the following:
Error Message:
We're sorry. Stardock is not able to accept your order. Pease contact sales@stardock.com for assistance.
Please reference transaction number: [Edited out, I don't know if it's safe to post]

I sent an e-mail with more or less the content you see above to the address it mentions and yet I have not received any response whatsoever, while I think it has charged my debit card twice, despite the error messages claiming the transcation could not be completed. I'm not 100% certain about the charges since my bank's site delays detailed listing but it seems to have reduced my available money by about 2x the price of your game. What do I do now and who do I contact since I contacted the sales address I was instructed to by the error message and received no response?

When did you email sales?  You should have gotten an auto-response, so be sure to check your Junk Mail as it may have blocked our response.

Also, you have not been charged for the preorder. What you're seeing is your bank creating a temporary hold on the amount to make sure you have enough funds to process the order when it is charged. Depending on your bank, this will disappear in 2-3 business days. Since you're seeing that, I suspect your preorder did go through.

I mailed @ 4:42PM GMT+2 yesterday. I don't have anything in my e-mail, I checked my junk folder but I don't think it would go there. The Stardock e-mail I received when I created my account on these forums (in order to make this post) arrived fine. Gmail lists the e-mail I wrote under "sent mails" fine.

If the orders did go through, I still got the error message, and haven't received any serial number or however this works... Also, I obviously don't want the game twice (if in fact it's been charged twice, I can verify within a couple of days I hope...)

Okay nevermind I guess, I just got the e-mail from stardock and it seems it was because of an issue with my ISP fudging up IPs and showing me appear as being from a different country. I'll move this to e-mail only and hope I can work something out to aquire the preorder and so get the beta before joining the army :/

No problem, if you run into any other issues just post back.   BTW, you won't get a serial number until the preorders are actually charged (which would be when Beta 1 comes out).

Okay, I think I found the reason this was happening. I think Stardock simply need to update their data about which ip belongs where. Most IP lookup sites falsely detect mine as being from amsterdam or germany but there is one that is more frequently updated and detects it properly as being from Greece, found here:
http://www.all-nettools.com/toolbox

I haven't sent the sales address this information yet as I'm waiting for a response to my last e-mail first, which I assume will come after the weekend. Anyway, this probably doesn't happen often but it makes me wonder if IP lookup is a good means to judge purchases' legitimacy after all... I never had problems before so I can only assume other places (amazon included) don't perform that check...

I've been trying to pre-order, but I can't seem to find how to pay through PayPal. Can anyone help me out with this?

Good question, I see the little paypal logo all over the place, but no where to actually use it, lol...

Did you try emailing them? If you have any questions or problems with your order please email sales@stardock.com. ????

ALSO go read this thread : Read this post

It talks about the first beta not being open to people who want to pay with paypal.

Sorry, PayPal can't be used for pre-orders since pre-orders get charged in the future, not immediately. You can workaround this by becoming a TotalGaming.net member for $69.95 and then spending 5 of your tokens on Sins, or it may be possible to use PayPal for a period after the first beta launches. If you email sales@stardock.com they should be able to answer that one.

A friend just posed a question to me. He doesn't have a credit card or paypal account and could I purchase two pre-orders and get him access to the beta?

If mal had his own stardock account and you logged into it and paid up for him then that could work. Only hitch I can foresee is if the billing address had to match the delivery address (sites often do this to prevent credit card fraud) if he wants a box copy too. But who knows, maybe it will be out in time for you to bring it to him at Soban Fest.

But you'd better wait for final word on that from the stardock people

There's an option in our store to buy a product as a gift for someone else. He'll need a Stardock.net account and you'll have to type in the email address it's under, but it should work.
